Yerevan - The Business Angels Network of Armenia (BANA), partnering with WCIT 2019, begins the fundraising for the "Armenian tech community" prize to award the winning ideas at the WCIT 2019 Lightning Rounds. The prize fund is set to be $105,000.
This year marks the first time WCIT will host “Lightning Rounds” in its 40 year history. Entrepreneurs and innovators will have a unique opportunity to showcase their startup ideas before a plenary audience from the tech community.

“Armenian Tech Community” prize for “Lightning Rounds”
On October 7-9, 2019, three thousand of the world’s top technology and business leaders, investors and policymakers, including very prominent keynote speakers, will gather in Yerevan for the 23rd World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT).
WCIT Yerevan represents a special opportunity for Armenia to show the world its talent and potential in the fields of science and technology, and truly introduce itself to the world as the original, current and future innovation nation.
As part of that effort, for the first time in 40 years, WCIT will host three sets of “Lightning Rounds” showcasing 15 start-ups from all over the world. They will take place on 3 days of the WCIT event: Oct 7, 8, 9. Jury members will be prominent representatives of global tech.
To present the unity and the hospitality of the Armenian Tech Community, the winners of “Lightning Rounds” will receive the “Armenian Tech Community" Prize. Each day is going to have 5 participants and 2 winners: First place winner with the prize of $25K, and Second place winner with the prize of $10K. All the winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of WCIT in Yerevan.
At WCIT, “Armenian Tech Community” media wall will be presented with the logos of all the community members, regardless of their monetary contribution to the prize fund. With this action Armenian Tech Community will be presented to the world as a unified ecosystem ready to serve humanity.
Armenian Tech Community representatives will award the prizes to all the winners. Three representatives will be selected through the e-voting by the whole community and each of them will award 2 prizes for each “Lightning Round”.

WCIT 2019 will be held in Yerevan on October 6-9, 2019. The Congress is hosted by Armenia with the support and under the high patronage of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) was established by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). Its main organizing body is the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
