On October 7, the World Congress on Information Technology officially started with an outstanding, breath-taking and powerful ceremony at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. To officially announce the launch of WCIT 2019, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan delivered a welcome speech alongside the WCIT 2019 Organizing Committee Chair and Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) President Alexander Yesayan and World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) Chair Yvonne Chiu. James Poisant, the WITSA Secretary-General had a powerful speech as well.
UATE President Alexander Yesayan said: “During the opening, they said that they never had such an opening ceremony during their 40-years of history, which was very encouraging for us. You know in what countries WCIT has been held and people are admired with our opening ceremony. As refers to the discussions, here we receive very positive feedback as well”
Tech journalist from Forbes and The Telegraph Mr. Monty Munford was there to be the MC for the opening ceremony.
The Power of Decentralization is the theme of this year’s IT congress. Sixty-two speakers will share ideas around developing technology, analyzing how it has a positive and negative impact on the citizens of the world. Later on, the 3-day Congress will continue in the frame of The Yerevan Talks, which will be built as a series of discussions.
WCIT 2019 was held in Yerevan on October 6-9, 2019. The Congress is hosted by Armenia with the support and under the high patronage of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) was established by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). Its main organizing body is the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
